Dr. Mary Jung
Principal Investigator

Dr. Jung leads the Diabetes Prevention Research Group at UBC. Her research focuses on translating evidence-based diabetes prevention strategies into accessible community programs.
Dr. Jonathan Little
Co-Investigator
School of Health & Exercise Sciences, UBC Okanagan
Dr. Little's research examines how exercise and nutrition can improve metabolic health in people with or at risk for type 2 diabetes.
Dr. Mark Beauchamp
Co-Investigator
School of Kinesiology, UBC Vancouver
Dr. Beauchamp's research focuses on motivational processes in health behaviour change and group dynamics in physical activity settings.
Dr. Jessica Bourne
Research Associate
UBC Okanagan
Dr. Bourne contributed to the development and evaluation of the SSBC program through her doctoral research on behaviour change interventions.
Diabetes Prevention Research Group
The Diabetes Prevention Research Group (DPRG) at UBC Okanagan is a multidisciplinary team working to develop, evaluate, and implement evidence-based strategies for preventing type 2 diabetes in Canadian communities.
Through collaboration with YMCAs, health authorities, Diabetes Canada, and funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the DPRG is scaling the SSBC program to reach communities across the country.
